Chapter 2 is entitled “Civilization Stops at the Waterline.” It’s a story about Brown and her husband having a vulnerable moment in a swimming lake, and how even though vulnerability is difficult, it can strengthen a relationship and your life. The chapter also talks about how your successes, failures, and journeys are inevitable and necessary in life.
“Experience and success don’t give you easy passage through the middle space of struggle. They only grant you a little grace, a grace that whispers, “This is part of the process. Stay the course.”
Opportunities and achievements in life are great (obviously), but you probably had some struggles and obstacles to get to the high points in your life. Know that that’s NORMAL and that everything in life is a process and will pan out and pay up if you allow it to.
“The goal of the (rising strong) process is to rise from our falls, overcome our mistakes, and face hurt in a way that brings more wisdom and wholeheartedness into our lives.”
We all fall, make mistakes, and get hurt. In order to rise strong, you have to accept that all of these things will happen and that how you act and go on with your life makes you all the stronger, wiser, and wholehearted.
Chapter 3 is entitled “Owning Our Stories.” It’s about sharing your story fearlessly and embracing it as yours because it’s awesome, even with the struggles along the way.
“Creating is the act of paying attention to our experiences and connecting the dots so we can learn more about ourselves and the world around us.”
I love creating stuff: blog posts, arts and crafts, projects, etc. Creating allows us to really focus on experiences and put everything going on in your life together so you can get to know yourself the best that you can and develop a deeper understanding of yourself and the world as you continue on your happy and healthy adventure. 🙂 ❤
